Technology
“There is a movement in the swimming pool, agriculture, drinking water disinfection market to lower the use of toxic chemicals – especially chlorine and to move into safer solutions such as UV systems and Ozone that are not sufficient alternatives to chlorine. Additional alternatives are needed.”
Coppter Water Technologies Ltd.( 516609484) is an Israeli startup company that developed systems to provide a ‘green’ solution for safe water, including swimming pools, spas, agriculture, and wastewater treatment, water reservoirs, and more.”
The systems recycle the active anti-microbial form of copper and offer a safe and low-cost solution for maintaining clean water without bacteria and other microorganisms.
A Fast and Broad-Spectrum Solution for Waterborne Bacteria and Fungi
A vast array of pathogens inhabits untreated water sources, including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella, Legionella, Aeromonas, Mycobacterium avium, Staphylococcus aureus, and more. Pathogens can cause illness and health problems, so it is essential to treat the water used for bathing and, of course, drinking. Water treatment does not have to be accompanied by other health and environmental problems. The water in the swimming pool must not cause burning in the eyes, irritation on the skin, or encourage asthma problems. With Coppter’s Technology, we can provide safe and healthy water that give which provides a bathing experience like in a pristine spring.
Fast-Acting and long-lasting Disinfection
Unlike competing systems, the system is not sensitive to pH and water hardness, operates over a wide temperature range, is easy to install and simple to operate and operate, and does not require pH correction and the addition of various chemicals according to tests of the pool water parameters that are required in other water disinfection methods.
The operating principle of coppter’s water disinfection systems is based on releasing an effective concentration (about 0.2ppm) of monovalent copper ions into the water. At this concentration, the monovalent copper eradicated bacteria and fungi. The system contains a chamber for circulating the pool (or hot tub) water containing a source of divalent copper ions, which is a dedicated cation exchanger loaded with divalent copper ions (a commercial resin found and adapted for its function by Coppter), copper electrodes (shaped sintered bronze copper cylinders made of 200 micron diameter microspheres, designed and adapted for their function by Coppter), with a precise electrical voltage between the electrodes suitable for receiving monovalent copper ions from divalent copper ions. In addition, the system includes a dedicated power supply and a control system for proper operation of the system.
Enters Monovalent copper ions.
Since the dawn of time, mankind has been using various copper phase to prevent various infections caused by a wide array of harmful microorganisms. Nowadays, it’s not common in antimicrobial products, perhaps because of the absence of repeatability of its effect.
Our research has shown that the only form of copper (Cu) to have the desirable effect is monovalent copper (Cu+), and that it can be continuously generated by alternation of the local conditions of the site, thus allowing us to achieve a vigorous repeatable effect.
The technology developed enables effective dynamic concentration of monovalent copper ions under swimming pool conditions, using unique equipment developed by the company that was recognized as innovative and has inventive progress by patent examiners. There are currently no similar systems in the world that maintain monovalent copper ions in a safe aquatic environment. In systems that use copper to disinfect pools, the copper is divalent and therefore, the effectiveness is limited.

How is this solution being applied today?
At the heart of Coppter’s innovation is our scientists’ discovery of the potent anti-microbial activity of Cu+, which they then applied by building a water purification system based on this activity of the Cu+ cation.
